Two active modes simoultaneously
Hi, I am just getting started with CSS and I am trying to create a script for my Novation Launch Control XL.
I really like the original Ableton Script and just want to improve upon that (for my workflow).
In the original Script, you can change what the knobs control and what the buttons control independently.
I tried to recreate that with different modes (Knob mode 1 + Knob mode 2 + …)(Button mode 1 + Button mode 2 + …), but I am guessing, that only one mode can be active at a time.
Is there another way to achieve that functionality?

And is there no way to have buttons always have a certain functionality, no matter what mode the controller is in? I read about mode 0, but I can’t assign controls to it.
Thanks in advance
Mode 0 was a function in the old web app which has been defunct for a long time. Only 1 mode can be activated at time in Control Surface Studio.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Do you have any tips for achieving the functionality I mentioned above?
Ah! Damned… I am also really looking for an equivalent function. Either with mapping working in several modes at once or an “always working” mode. Because duplicating a lot of mapping is really tedious, especially when you then change a little one of those. Then you have to delete all the duplicates and redo them aso.
Thank’s
Hi, I’m also struggling with this and although CSS3 has a global mode again, this still would not work with several sections that can switch the functions and should work at the same time.
I wonder how you solved it ? Best Regards, mj
Just to avoid any confusion for people reading this thread.
Mode 0/Global Mode was added in CSS3. This allows for 2 modes to be active at the same time.

Will something like Mode 0 ever return? Because now it means we would have to make a copy of a mapping for every Mode if we want to keep its functionality across all Modes.
