Laggy behavior after update to Live 12.3

Since updating to the latest version of Live, my script for my Nanokontrol 2 is lagging heavily in updating faders and knobs in Live, It seems to be a script issue because I tested it with the generic MackieControl script and everything is smooth sailing. I also tested out building a new script that was super basic just for 8 volume fader controls and it has the same issue.

Would not recommend to use Ableton 12 and higher as it has no midi PC messages support in vst.

Heya!

It looks like this fix was important enough for Ableton that they released a 12.3.2 with only this!
https://www.ableton.com/en/release-notes/live-12/
And indeed, it seems to be fixed for my Launch Control XL2 template!

We’re kind of a big deal haha 😀

I’ve tested 12.3.2 too and the lagging issue is gone.

A massive thanks to you and everyone who contributed to this discussion and who contacted Ableton about the issue.

Also if anyone from Ableton is reading this, a huge thank you for the lightning fast bug fix and update!

Ableton have released Live Beta version 12.3.5b2
Which includes this fix:

  • Fixed an issue with the Max for Live API that caused Live to lag or freeze.

I’ve tested our lagging issue against this beta version and it appears to be fixed,
but could anyone else with beta access please check their scripts too.

Thanks all!

Yes ! I can confirm here. It seems, after very brief test, that the issue is fixed with the 12.3.5b2 by me as well. Yay! Thank’s Ableton 🙂

Thanks Benjamin!
This is very promising 🙂

Also working for me here after updating to latest beta, thanks for the info!

Ableton have responded to me and said it is a bug which is under investigation. No promise of when a fix will be issued as yet.

For anyone wanting to use their scripts without the lags, you can download the Ableton version prior to 12.3 on their official page, and you can just install it as a second Ableton, that way you can use something like stem separation in the newest version (if you need it) and save the stems somewhere, then open the old Version again. It’s a quick fix until this issue is resolved.
