Nektar pacer script and template
Hello, I am pleased to share with you a script for the Nektar Pacer that I am quite satisfied with. I hope it can be useful to others.
This script is intended for those who have a Nektar Pacer and work in session view on Ableton. In essence, with this script on your Pacer, you can select and arm the track you want, and from 1 to 5 (when arming one track, the others are disarmed), you can navigate from bottom to top on the scenes with your 1×5 session box..
You’ll be able to start rec/overdub on the selected clip, stop or resume playback of the selected clip, and finally, delete the selected clip. I include a little manual detailing all of this and the template.
I want to mention that there are two buttons that I unfortunately couldn’t program. The very first button at the top left seems to be disabled; I can’t do anything with it. The encoder only works with double clicks, which is not ideal, but it’s a shame since it could have been very useful.
If anyone finds a solution for programming these buttons, I would be happy to modify my script.
See you later!
Thank you for sharing, I’m going to try it out. I think the Nektar Pacer manual states that the top-left button is the only one that can’t be mapped due it being reserved for changing on-board presets.
One option to increase the amount of buttons you can work with is to create one momentary button that cycles to a different mode when you hold it down. For example:
I would use button 1 on the Nektar Pacer (left-most button on the bottom row) as the momentary mode-change button, because then I can hold with my left foot and manage the other buttons with my right foot (but that’s up to preference). You’ll have 2 times 9 buttons to play with.
Mode 1, the default mode, has all the buttons needed for recording (e.g. 5 track buttons + a record, play, stop and clear button).
Mode 2 can have buttons like scene_up and scene_down, metronome, tap tempo, mute, solo, device toggle, undo, …
