Quenstyion about modes and led feedback -solved –
Solved, in that sense there was no problem….tunnel vision/other cause of missynchronization
so, my first script, 3 modes with a Beatstep and it just works!…. even with an LED feedback from ableton on the beatstep (didn’t know that was possible)
I have only been working in Ableton for a year and shaping my workflow this way is really cool.
The software still requires development and it really took me some time to work with the limitations. (for example, I have a lot of controllers and that is quite a hassle), edeting area is kind of in development stage and the videos no longer connect properly. But once you figure out the trick, it works well and you can easily create a nice custom-made script!
Goodday everyone,
I have now created my first script and am running into a few questions.
My intention is to transform an Arturia Beatstep into a Chanelstrip controller.
The basic idea is as follows;
3 modes, Mode 1 EQ and Gain, Mode 2 sends, mode 3 Compressor, gate limiter.
Mode 1: 17 rotary controllers (cc) and 16 pads (cc) (total 33 controllers)
Mode 2: 15 rotary controllers (cc) and 4 pads (cc) (total 19 controllers)
Mode 3: 17 rotary controllers (cc) and 16 pads (total 33 controllers)
Each mode has 3 same functions; Volume, Mute and Sole
And I use mode functions to switch between modes.
Mode 1 is the standard mode. From here I can go to mode 2 or to mode 3. In mode 2 and 3 I can return via a mode selector.
All knobs and pads work in the three modes. I can switch between the different modes. I just don’t get the LED feedback on the modes in order. I am looking for the following operation
Button 1 Button 2 Leds needed
Mode 1 Select mode 3 Select Mode 2 No LED
Mode 2 Select Mode 1 Select Mode1 Led Button 2 on
Mode 3 Select Mode 1 Select Mode 1 Led Button 1 on
I have tried different settings, but I am unable to get the LEDs to light as shown in the table. Sometimes I get strange effects, e.g. an LED of another button suddenly lights up. Can anyone help me further, to set this up as above?
Heya,
running into a similar problem here. I have a shift mode, all buttons work fine in both shift and regular mode. However, my LED feedback (pad lit up when playing, dark when not) “resets” when I change modes and the light turns off. Messing around and trying to fix it now, but it’d be great if you could go into some detail where exactly it went wrong for you. Might help me to find my own programming errors.
Ta,
L
