Control single VST based on selected track – Possible with Remotify?

Hi,

I need a way in Ableton that I can use to control a specific plugin from a MIDI controller based on the selected track. So when I select a track my MIDI device will automatically control the VST instance on that track, is this possible with this software please?

Many thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your question. You can’t currently select a device based on name, but you can control a specific device number on the selected track. The device number being its position in the device chain.

I hope this helps.

Hi Bill,
Yes it is possible but requires quite a bit of custom functionality in order to achieve. We will be investigating this along with updates to our ‘reactions’ mapping type which we have in the pipeline, I can’t say when this will be available though sorry.

Yes we do, you can subscribe to receive emails form us by checking the ‘subscribe to our email list’ in the ‘my account’ page, which you will find in the menu at the top.
(I just checked and you are currently subscribed).

Thanks for your interest Bill.

Hi,

I’m looking for the same behavior, is it possible to achieve now with Reactions v2?

Please let me know about it.

Hi Hatoki,

Yes with Reactions 2 (currently in beta) you can get the position number of a plugin by its name and save it to a modifier
You can then use the modifier as the ‘Device number’
For details on this, go to the ‘Reactions v2 tutorials’ in the beta forum https://remotify.io/beta-community
Watch the video 8. Using modifiers with other mapping types
