We’re super excited to announce the release of Control Surface Studio 3 today!

This amazing new release brings many new hugely requested features and workflow improvements, all designed to help you to create Ableton MIDI remote scripts even quicker and easier.
Highlights In Control Surface Studio 3:

Global Mode / Mode 0
This much requested feature brings a global “always active” mode which runs alongside the currently active mode.

Disable & Enable Mappings
Remove mappings from being generated in your script with this new enable/disable option.

New: Velocity ‘Is Between’ options
This is a game changer for velocity sensitive pads/keys/buttons.

Acceleration Settings For Relative Controls
And this is a game changer for relative / endless encoder style inputs which use various MIDI velocity values depending on how fast you turn them.

New Selected Parameter Mapping Type
Click a parameter in Ableton and have instant control over it from your midi controller with this super simple but super powerful mapping type.

Huge Improvements: Mapping Table Filtering
The filtering system in the mappings table has a new assortment of powerful tools enabling you to quickly find the mappings which you want to work on.

Select ‘Mode’ & ‘Controller Input’ In The Mappings Table
Change each mapping’s ‘Controller Input’ and ‘Mode’ directly in the mappings table. No longer do you need to open the edit form each time. A massive time saver!

MIDI Input And MIDI Feedback Now Have Separate Settings
If an input on your midi controller uses different MIDI data to light up its LED than the MIDI it sends when you press/turn it, then this new feature will be for you!

WOW ***

I’d say, everything that bugged mit in the 2er version is addressed. Thank you so much!

We’re happy to hear this, it’s taken a massive amount of work over the last 6+ months 😀

HI John, I must say I had the same reaction as Qsonic when I saw that I need to pay for the upgrade, given that when I purchased CSS it stated that it was a lifelong licence. It did not say that the lifelong access was to CSS2 specifically, but to CSS. I appreciate that a lot of work is needed to maintain and develop the product, but it is equally important to be honest and upfront with the custumers.

Hi Fluxiia, feel free to send us an email and we can discuss this. https://community.remotify.io/contact-us/

Hi JohnC,

It is nice to see updates and fixes are coming to CSS… but what about older versions, will we see backports and bug fixes to version 2.9? I my self have run into and seen bugs in older versions (pre 2.9) that have not been addressed yet.

We released 2.9 only a couple of weeks ago which fixed many reported issues/bugs.
All future bug fixes will be done in CSS3.

Congratulations on the CSS3 release! Really happy to see further development of CSS.
Two questions.

Will CSS3 still work with Ableton 11?

Does the new “MIDI Input And MIDI Feedback Now Have Separate Settings” mean that will can now set the output MIDI channel for the LED feedback so I can get the APC Mini MK2 working?

Thanks again for all your efforts!
Isaac

Ableton 11.3 working. Acciderntally CSS3 alerts that there is an error with template mapping – but there is noo issue logically. And that alert window hovers save button…… Redesign alert popup window please!!!!

Thanks Hellem! Good to know!
Blessings..

Yes that’s precisely what its for 🙂

Thanks John! That’s what I was hoping for 🙂

and CSS3 always connects to free midi ports – and they are not awailable then…. and midi ports monitoring is efficiency spoiling process…. make an option to turn it OFFF please, and an option to select what port CSS3 should listen to in case.

Also there are huge midi drivers update coming:
https://github.com/microsoft/MIDI/releases/tag/customer-preview-2
and it was said that it will fix solo using of midi ports on windows – but despite of that fact – an option to select desired midi ports to listen to on CSS3 would be really great.
