Global Mode / Mode 0
This much requested feature brings a global “always active” mode which runs alongside the currently active mode.
Disable & Enable Mappings
Remove mappings from being generated in your script with this new enable/disable option.
New: Velocity ‘Is Between’ options
This is a game changer for velocity sensitive pads/keys/buttons.
Acceleration Settings For Relative Controls
And this is a game changer for relative / endless encoder style inputs which use various MIDI velocity values depending on how fast you turn them.
New Selected Parameter Mapping Type
Click a parameter in Ableton and have instant control over it from your midi controller with this super simple but super powerful mapping type.
Huge Improvements: Mapping Table Filtering
The filtering system in the mappings table has a new assortment of powerful tools enabling you to quickly find the mappings which you want to work on.
Select ‘Mode’ & ‘Controller Input’ In The Mappings Table
Change each mapping’s ‘Controller Input’ and ‘Mode’ directly in the mappings table. No longer do you need to open the edit form each time. A massive time saver!
MIDI Input And MIDI Feedback Now Have Separate Settings
If an input on your midi controller uses different MIDI data to light up its LED than the MIDI it sends when you press/turn it, then this new feature will be for you!

We’re happy to hear this, it’s taken a massive amount of work over the last 6+ months 😀
HI John, I must say I had the same reaction as Qsonic when I saw that I need to pay for the upgrade, given that when I purchased CSS it stated that it was a lifelong licence. It did not say that the lifelong access was to CSS2 specifically, but to CSS. I appreciate that a lot of work is needed to maintain and develop the product, but it is equally important to be honest and upfront with the custumers.
Hi Fluxiia, feel free to send us an email and we can discuss this. https://community.remotify.io/contact-us/
Hi John, looking into the new filter functions and they are very helpful, thank you ! As for now I need to type the exact mapping name. Would it be possible to complement the search so it starts immediately after entering letters or maybe with * ? Typing for example “send*” would then show every mapping with “send” in the name (sendA, send A, trackSend etc.). Best Regards, mj
Hi Martin,
It’s just a full word that you need to type in order for the filter to find it (not the full mapping name – unless it only contains one word of course)
Subject: Concerns Regarding Lifetime License and Advertising Practices
Hi John,
Following the recent update to CSS, I have a question. One of the main reasons I purchased Control Surface Studio was the promise of a lifetime license. However, based on your recent communication, it seems I now need to purchase an update. That strikes me as contradictory to the original promise. Could you clarify how you reconcile this with your commitment to a lifetime license?
In light of this, I’d also like to express my concern about the marketing banner offering a 40% discount. The countdown clock implies it’s a limited-time offer, yet in practice this deal seems to be running continuously. In the Netherlands, where I live, such advertising practices are not allowed, and I believe that responsible business owners should avoid this kind of approach regardless of jurisdiction.
To make matters worse, your site advertises that Control Surface Studio works well with the Faderport 8 and 16. In reality, it does not—at least, not in a way that justifies this claim.
Considering all this, I’d like to offer some feedback: please take a closer look at how you’re conducting business. I don’t believe this is the way to build a constructive, long-term relationship with customers.
If your license had cost around €10, I might have said, “You get what you pay for.” But at £69, this is a serious investment for software—and I think customers deserve transparency and reliability in return.
Best regards
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback, I understand your comments regarding this but you do still have full access to Control Surface Studio 2, we haven’t taken this away.
As stated in our email sent out to all existing customers recently, we have asked for a small upgrade fee to CSS3 for the massive amount of new features added in this new major release as well as the continued work which we do to develop and maintain it.
I’m not sure were we have made specific claims with regards to Faderport in our marketing materials but we will take a look into this along with your comments about the banner.
Please send us an email at help@remotify.io if you would like to discuss this further.
Remotify business model is not the one to be proud. Their ADS lies, the features requests can not be handled anyhow, bug fixing take years or forever… No benefits for the community that helps to improve the product. That is what you are paying for.
