Issue with midi input when CSS and Ableton are open.
I just upgraded to CSS 3.0.1.
Is CSS 3.0.1 supposed to allow Ableton and CSS to receive input from a midi controller when both are open ?
When I start Ableton and then CSS the Midi inputs on my controller do not register in CSS.
And if I start CSS and then Ableton the Midi inputs from my controller can be seen in CSS but not in Ableton.
This doesn’t help the workflow for making edits to a particular remote scripts. I’m pretty sure I didn’t see this behaviour in the previous version of CSS and only had issues like this when the CSS Midi Learn option was selected.
CSS only monitors incoming MIDI on your computer. It shouldn’t (as far as I’m aware) be blocking MIDI data going to Ableton. I’ve never experienced this.
If anyone else has experienced this issue, please feel free to chime in!
Yes if you previously purchased CSS 2, you can still download / open it.

ok, thanks I will give that a go. It will be probably be the same behaviour as CCS v3 meaning some weirdness on my midi drivers installation, etc. – but probably worth just checking.
ok previous CCS version did the same. Really don’t know what’s going on. Start Ableton before CSS, and can’t see midi inputs in CSS. Start CSS before Ableton and midi is not received in Ableton.
So workaround is to just start Ableton, then CSS, but can’t use midi learn feature in CSS. If I want to map a bunch of buttons I can close Ableton, then start CSS, turn on midi learn, map the buttons, then save the controller, exit CSS, start Ableton, start CSS. Not ideal, but there you go!
I only had issues with both Ableton (12 on Windows) and CSS open at the same time. It generally ended up with a red display in Ableton of the midi control (and no longer control of any midi input) and then to my knowledge the only solution is a reboot (turning off midi controller, software, do not solve the issue).

Is there a way to try with the previous version, or is this not possible once you’ve upgarded ?
