Mapping of a controller button to a rotary control (Value=100 instead of 127)
Hello again,
I have noticed that when mapping a button (On/Off) to a rotary control in Live, it always send the value 100 and not the maximum value (127) declared in the controller setup.
It happens regardless of whether the button is declared as an absolute or on/off (again with a on value of 127) in the control override section of the mapping.
Is this an intended behavior ?
Have a nice day
I’ve got a question about the same thing. In my case, I’m using an APC Key 25 and trying to use the matrix pads like “on/off” switches for device parameters in Live’s tracks. Ideally, I want the pads to activate the device parameter change when pressed down and deactivate the parameter change when released. I also want the pad LEDs to be yellow when the parameter is in an “off” state (i.e. the change is not engaged) and green when the pad is pressed and the parameter change is engaged. I’m mapping the pads to rotary (0 to 127) parameters in Live (mainly the Macros in Drum and Instrument Racks), and I’ve tried various combinations of settings in CSS’s Device Selector/Parameter Bank/Parameter interface to achieve this.
The CSS settings in the attached screenshot get me exactly the type of pad behavior I’m looking for. The only problem is that the mapped parameter in Live changes values of 0 and 100 rather than 0 and 127. I can’t find anything that would explain why the max value would be 100 rather than 127.
Note that I DO get a parameter change from 0 to 127 when using a Control Type of “Absolute” rather than “On/Off”. The only problem with this approach is that the pad LED isn’t lighting yellow when the parameter change is off (the pad LED is off completely), but it is lighting green when pressed.
