Mode 0 analogy

Im programming for the smartpad.
It has a 8 encoders along the top
8 buttons down the LHS

The first button selects volume/pan. Ive been going through the videos but its a little confusing as I also had a read of some manuals but they refer to the web version.

The issue I have is that the ‘Home’ functionality is fairly well defined and fits well with the persistent Mode 0 paradigm. My question is, if I mode select to change the function of the knobs from controlling vol over to pan and so on, does that mean I need to keep a copy of eg session box etc in every mode to keep the persistent behaviour of mode 0?

In addition to this, I would like to be able to eg hold the second button down like a shift and use the scene buttons as numbers to select sends 1-8 as the target for the knobs; does that mean, without the mode 0 behaviour, I will need to copy all the persistent objects into those modes as well?

Thanks for any guidance. I do apologise if some of my questions seem a bit convoluted but after 20 years of programming, I spend way more time undoing the silt in my brain that actually learning 🙂

I can’t think of any other way that this could be done in Control Surface Studio unfortunately.
