“script generation error” – Remotify WordPress site down?

0

I just tried to generate a script, and after waiting for quite a while (about 70 spins of the “generate script” button) CSS produced this message:

Script generation error: <p>There has been a critical error on this website.</p><p><ahref=”https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/faq-troubleshooting/”>Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.</a></p>

The script was working fine when I generated the previous version last night. I added one simple log mapping today, it shouldn’t have broken the script. I’ve retried a few times over the past few hours, same result.

I suppose Remotify’s WordPress server is down? Is anyone else currently experiencing this? Would a “critical error” like this corrupt my script?

Thanks for any feedback!

Hi,

All seems to working fine now, it’s possible we had an outage.
If your script still won’t generate successfully:
Is it a huge script? if it is, you may have ran into the script generation time limitation.

Hey John,

Thanks for the response.

So about 48hrs later I’m still getting the same message about a “critical error on this website”…

I don’t have the slightest idea what could have triggered this, or what the message is even referring to (how does WordPress.org have anything to do with my script?). I had generated the script a couple nights ago and it worked perfectly. The next afternoon I added one single mapping to that script, a simple mapping to log a value when a button was pressed, and when I tried to generate it I got hit with this error, and I haven’t been able to get past it since.

In my attempts to troubleshoot, I have:

  • deleted that one single log mapping, so the script was back to the exact same state that it was in when I had successfully generated it the night before (didn’t help, still get the error message)
  • made a duplicate of the script and tried to generate that one instead (same issue)
  • manually relinked the midi remote scripts folder in settings (made no difference)
  • exported other scripts of mine to see if the issue was happening across the board, or just to the one script in question (other scripts export fine, including ones that are just as large)

To answer your question, this is a good place to mention that the script is rather large, I guess? What would you consider to be a large script? There’s about 500 mappings in this one. I’ve generated much larger scripts than this and never had a problem, other than having to wait longer than usual for them to generate.

Does it sound to you like my script got corrupted somehow? If so, do you have any sage advice on how to salvage this thing? I’ve been working on it for months, and I reeeeally don’t want to imagine having to start from scratch.

Thanks very much for any input!
