Hi there,

I’m having the strange problem that only appears when i load a saved ableton live set. I can’t move the session box , whenever i press the keys assigned to move the session box i only get the message : script is unable to move the session box. However, if I close Live, reopen it and try to move the box, it works fine.

Best, Jason

The problem only appears when combination mode in the session box mapping is on

combination mode does not work

Hello,

same here – please help:

Ableton Live 12.1.5 release build 2024-12-11

I have two controllers each using the same controller template
– each controller has its own script
– both scripts have same session box dimension
– no relative session box displacement
– none of the controls of the controller template are used twice over both scripts
– only the session box of the second controller script has assigned navigation controls

on intial start of ableton:
– I can move the session box of the second controller script but only this box moves the other one stays in place
– relative selections concerned to session box from both scripts are working in order of the moved session box from my second controller script

then create new project in ableton or just load any of my live sets:
– moving session box fails with error message unable to move session box there

the log gives no information

please help, combination mode was one decisive reason for purchase

Kind regards

You say you are using the same script for both controllers? just a guess but this could be the reason.

Try duplicating and renaming the script for use with the second midi controller. Also, ensure that ‘combination mode’ is turned on in both scripts / session box mappings.

I got the same situation, that the box wasn‘t moving, but it was the setting of LED feedback for some parameters, that the surface does not offer. And when Ableton feedbacks the LED to „nowhere“, the script somewhat refrains from moving the box.  That may be an unknown bug at ableton, too.    Could someone try to set the LED feedback in the „session box“ to none. I think the script should work.  Turning the feedback back on, one-by-one, you can find out, which one is the problem
