select track in folded group (arrangement view)

I am trying to work out how to highlight select a track that is hidden in a folded group in the arrangement view. Currently, my script to select a named track works fine when the named track (that is in a group) is visible with the group unfolded.BUt when there group is folded the error states track is invisible and fails to select the named track. I know there is a similar thread on this topic, but it didn’t seem to solve the problem and I am hoping there is a simple solution to this which I can not make work at the moment with reactions.
