Update Midi Fighter Twister ring led value when a mapped VST parmater change switching a preset
Good evening everyone,
i know this question has been asked many times, but i have no idea how to solve the problem.
i’m using the Midi Fighter exclusively to map VST parameters. i downloaded the template and set up the first bank, using device parameters 1 to 16. it’s a really simple script.
The script works correctly: i choose a VST, click “Configure” in Live, and map the desired parameter to a knob. When i change the preset in the plugin and the parameter value changes, i don’t get any feedback/changing on the Midi Fighter’s LEDs.
i’ve watched countless tutorials, but they all focus on controlling Live, where LED feedback is already built-in. i also read the tutorial about on/off feedback, but that’s not what i’m trying to achieve.
i’m completely stuck. If someone could write the procedure for just one knob, i should be able to complete the rest of the script on my own.
Thank you so much for your help — i just want to have value feedback displayed on the Midi Fighter.
Are you using a Reaction to set the device number via a modifier?
If so, you need to ensure that the action ‘script > reload LED listeners’ is fired whenever the device number is updated, this will ensure that your LEDs update to the correct position
Thank you so much for the reply, John. I’m really inexperienced, but I’m not using anything yet. At the moment, in the script, i’ve only added a Parameter Mapping to Knob 01. The knob hasn’t been modified by the script i downloaded from your website. The Device Parameter is set as follows:
Track Selection – Selected;
Device Selected – Selected;
Device Parameter Number – 1 (the second Knob will have Parameter Number – 2, and so on);
Controller Input – Knob 01;
Control Override – Default;
Invert Values – Off;
Led Feedback – Custom – Send Feedback to Knob 1;
Snapping – On.
This is what I have in the script right now. If i save the script and open Live, when I configure a VST, Knob 01 is correctly mapped. At this point, I really have no idea what I should do to get feedback on the controller. I tried selecting a Reaction and intuitively tried entering some conditions, but of course, nothing worked. I don’t know what to choose. For intuition, i selected Live Object Model – Devices – All Devices – ‘parameters has changed’ as the Listener. But in the Actions, i have no idea what to choose, and in the script, i can’t find ‘reload LED Listeners’. I really have no idea what to do next. If anyone could show me how to proceed after creating a Device Parameter, i would be very happy. I’ve watched tutorials on feedback, but they talk about On/Off for parameters internal to Live. I haven’t found any tutorials that explain how to map VSTs. Again, thanks for your availability
Just an update: i’ve bought the Serumify scritp, that for me is not working in Live 12.2. But basically i’m trying to get the same result of the script,with all VSTs and without the On/Off feedback when a parameter is mapped or not. Thank you again!
Ho John, i’ve got both, but i’m using v1 with the script. Basically the Twister have the first button on. When i put Serum, all knobs and buttons are black but in Ableton configure mode or in Ableton Midi mapping, i can’t map anything.
For the feedback, Is there some resource to learn the procedure? I’m really lost and i can’t find any tutorial about it.
Thank you John
Here I am again! I really need help and I can’t figure it out. I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Bni9Yqtks0&t=507s, but I can’t get any led feedback when the macro value changes. I think everything is related to the “macro” that’s created when I configure the controller. I’ve only mapped the first knob, no modifiers, and I’m selecting Track Selected, Device Selected. I load Avenger 2 (for example), select configure, and map the first knob. When I move the macro, the knob’s value changes. When I change the preset, the knob starts from the right position, but I don’t have any feedback on the LEDs. The only way to get feedback is to use Live’s MIDI mapping. But in this way, I get both feedback and the button color change, and of course, I can’t save the mapping. I’ve exactly followed what’s described in the tutorial, but I don’t have a listener like quantization, so I don’t know where to get the value to update the knob’s ring. I’ve tried everything, “Device parameter value has changed”, “Selected device parameter value has changed”, but nothing works. Here’s the “script”, if anyone can help me, I would be very grateful. I can’t map the Twister and I’m losing sleep over this 🙂
I would recommend watching this section in our latest tutorial:

Thank you John. I’m on CSS 2.9 and i’ve searched everywhere, but i havem’t the Script – reload LED listeners. Is it in the 3.0 version? I’ve followed the exact steps. I’ve searched for something with the LED word, but i don’t have it.
Thank you!
Hi John, i’ve bought the 3.0 update 🙂 Ok, now the LED around the knob reset accordingly to the parameter changes, but i have another problem: when i turn the knob, the colored led changes value…and color 🙂 I’ve set a custom LED feedback in the knob template and for the Parameter controller i’ve set Custom – Knob 1. I don’t think he can do it 🙂
