I am frequently encountering the “white screen of death” when working with CSS.

The program crashes and screen goes white, and lose all work since last save.

I am on a Mac Studio.

I have to Force Quit and try again when the screen goes white.

Can happen randomly and crash…

I have noticed if the network gets interrupted the program can crash.

I am not a fan of being tethered to the internet. Full stop.

I have had some “connection issues” when working with CSS apart from these issues described now, that have resulted in lost work/time.

I don’t want to be a downer as the new update is great and some bugs have been diligently ironed out, thank you. However….

Are you doing anything in particular in the app when the crash happens?
For clarity regarding the internet connection, this is only required when you first login and whenever you generate a script into Ableton.
Everything else is done within the app.

It can happen in a variety of circumstances:

  • randomly when working on maps
  • when opening some mappings created in an older version of the app (2….) – this behaviour appears to be consistent/reproducible
  • if internet is disrupted when editing a map
  • edit – sometimes it happens when typing into the filter field
