‘Unable to Move Session Box There’ – Session box ‘Up & Down’ Command Not working
Hi Guys,
Another Issue I am having with my remote script is that the Up & Down Buttons for my Session Box only work intermittently.
When I open my Live session it seems to be a totally random choice as to whether the Up & Down buttons I have selected for my session box navigation function or not – it relays the message ‘Unable to move session Box there’
I cannot simply just restart the project and it functions again, it seems to have a mind of its own in this regard as to when it starts working again.

Based on your description, I’m guessing you’re using ‘increment’ and ‘decrement’ buttons to move the session box left/right?
Do you have ‘number of steps’ set to 1?

Thanks for your response – yes that’s right, increment and decrement both with number of steps set to 1
I’ve created a script containing a session box and 2 sess box navigation mappings. 1 increment and 1 decrement.
This works as expected, moving the session box left and right when pressing the buttons.
Here are my settings for the increment button (decrement is the same but selected ‘decrement’ for the ‘control type’ menu).
I’ve also attached the script json file which you can download/import in to check further.

So i had a play around with this today – the only difference between my script and yours was the midi value for on. When I changed it to 87 on my controller is stopped working but that makes sense to me.
The session box navigation is working again which is good but I am nervous as it only works intermittently – this could be a big problem when I play live especially as I don’t understand what to do to get it working again – often just reseting live is not enough to fix the issue.
A sure fire way for me to make the issue happen is to change script while Ableton is open – the script is a duplicate under a different name. I would hazzard a guess at the order in which the session box is being called up or where it thinks it is in somewhere else in the session?
I have attached the .json information but I don’t think its specfic to the script unfortunately.
This is quite puzzling, if an error is not being logged,
– are you changing the mode?
– is the same MIDI velocity being sent by your navigation buttons when pressed?
The script you uploaded only has session box and sess box navigation controls so obviously you wouldn’t be changing the mode in that one.
